Student Announcements for Tuesday, March 11, 2008

Announcements for Parents:

If any parents are interested in volunteering at the All School Party on Thursday, March 20th, please contact Mickle at 436-1216. We will need volunteers for helping with the games, serving food, supervision of halls and dance area. We are asking for donations of 2 litre bottles of pop and bags of miniature candy bars or other similar candy types.

A spring time safety reminder during and after construction:
--Before school: Students are not allowed on or by school grounds before 7:30am. Our neighborhood families have also asked us to assist to ensure that students are not loitering outside of their homes before the 7:30am bell. We appreciate those proactive parents that have their students wait with them in their cars until the 7:30am bell rings.

When students return to school on March 31, the entrance doors for students will be adjusted as follows:
-6th graders should be dropped off by the gyms and will enter through the gym doors
-7th graders will enter through the main front doors and should be dropped off on thew west/flagpole side of the building.
-8th graders will enter down by the portables and should be dropped off on Walker Ave.

Announcements for Students:

A BIG THANK YOU for the over $10,000 of products were sold in the recent fundraiser. 44 students where among the top sellers who earned a ticket into the Money Machine and entry into the Wii drawing. When figures become final, we will announce a date for the event.

A spring time safety reminders:
---Crossing the streets using the crosswalks is the only safe way to get to school. All bike riders are asked to walk their bikes across the streets and remain on the sidewalks. Thanks to those who are remaining on sidewalks at all times.
---Students are to quickly leave school grounds at the end of the school day, including Tyrell Park. Students are not allowed to hang out in the park at the end of the day. Tyrell Park is reserved by Parks and Rec until early evening.

The Mickle All School Party is on Thursday, March 20th. The Theme this year is GREEN. Green for St. Patrick's Day and Green for being Eco-Friendly. Taking care of our planet is essential for the youth of today. Today's Green Tip is:
You should unplug your MP3, phone, and camera chargers when not in use.

The following students were selected by audition to be in the Northeast Varsity Jazz Band for next year: Lexie R., Edie W., Jeremy P., Helen C., Nikki M., Aaron L. Congratulations to these outstanding musicians!

INTRAMURALS:

ATTENTION 7th & 8th GRADE WRESTLERS: Wrestling will be in the West Gym. Please be off campus by 4:30.

Breakfast Menu for Wednesday: Warm Turnover, Cold Cereal, Whole Grain Toast, Juice or Milk.

Lunch Menu for today: Italian Dunker, Polish Dog on a Bun, Southwest Pizza, and fresh salads made daily here at Mickle.

Today is a "B" day. As the weather begins to improve, we are getting closer to outside recess days. Be prepared with your jacket or coat for when the day comes soon that we will be outside.
