Student Annoucements for Tuesday, April 8, 2008
Announcements for Parents:
Your students will be bringing home their 3rd quarter Report Cards today (Monday), they will also be receiving the fourth quarter newsletter. In it is a request for volunteers to help at the annual Eighth Grade Party, which is scheduled for May 29th from 7-9 p.m. at the Northeast Family YMCA. If you are interested in helping before, during, or after the event, please contact the school at 436-1216. Mrs. Peppmuller and Mrs. Euler are leading the planning this year.
This morning it was discovered that a bat was flying in the temporary classroom area that exists on our auditorium stage. Teachers in the area contacted custodians and the school office. Plans were made to remove students from the classrooms to other available classrooms. No students or staff were injured or in immediate harms way. Outside agencies were contacted for help including Animal Control and Stetson's Wildlife Management.
Just after 2pm, the bat was removed from the building without incident.
A representative from Stetson≠s Wildlife Management offered to provide interested families with information about the ≥big brown≈ bat. If you have an interest in this material or questions about the incident, feel free to contact us in the Mickle Office by calling 436-1216.
The UNL Extension office has more information about bats in an around structures by visiting their website at: http://www.ianrpubs.unl.edu/epublic/pages/publicationD.jsp?publicationId=654
