Student Announcements for Friday, April 18, 2008
Announcements for Parents:
"The following announcement was read to students this morning during morning announcements. Some students had started a tag game which required the participants to touch another person's buttocks to tag that person "it." If you have any questions, please call the school at 436-1216.
'Some students are playing tag or other games that require touching in what are normally private parts of the body. Any game like this is not a game, and it is not allowed in school. In school, touching of another person's private areas is not allowed, period. Not a game, not permission, not a dare, nothing makes it okay! If someone is seen doing this or it is reported, they will be referred to the office and the school resource officer may be contacted. Remember, you are expected to Be Safe, Be Responsible, and Be Respectful.'"
"Issue from the Norwood Park Neighborhood - For Your Information. Please discuss safety with your children at home. We are concerned about an incident that involved two young girls near the park by Norwood Park Elementary on Sunday afternoon and have updated information as of late yesterday afternoon. Two girls were playing on the playground Sunday when a man approached the girls. He asked them for tools to fix a leak at the school. He then asked one girl to go home and get some tools for the leak. While she was gone, he touched the other girl inappropriately. LPD said they now believe the story is very creditable. However, LPD isn't sure whether the suspect's age as given in the description is accurate. We want you to be aware of the description, and to assist by being watchful. The description we have is as follows:
Male Suspect: White male, 30 years of age, Brown hair, Black jacket with gray trim and jeans. Vehicle: White Sedan (number of doors unknown), Dark trim around doors. Please contact LPD Officer Kennett at 441-6000 if you see someone matching the suspect's description and/or hear any new information about this case."
