The spring, studio-style picture portraits taken of your student on March 8th at Mickle have arrived for families to see. On Friday (tomorrow) students will bring their pictures home with them.   If you choose to purchase, you can buy the entire package or purchase the Individual sheets separately offerings by Thursday, April 5th. There is an information sheet included in the envelope describing the package options.  You are under NO obligation to purchase anything.
If you choose not to purchase, please return the entire package intact to Mickle by Thursday, April 5th.   With either decision you make, please return the entire package or any money order forms to the Mickle by Thursday, April 5th.   If you have any questions about package offerings or inquires about retakes, please call Lifetouch at (402) 498-0206 or 1(800) 244-4312. Mickle Middle School’s PTSO will be sponsoring the Spring Fundraiser to raise funds for a new sound system in the auditorium.  We will be selling World’s Finest candy bars as our Spring Fundraiser. The kickoff for the fundraiser will be Tuesday, April 10th with distribution of the candy bars starting after school Wednesday, April 11th.        If a family wishes to participate in the Fundraiser, the candy bars will be pre-sold to families for $50 per box, each box will contain 50 candy bars to be sold for $1 each. Because pre-sale of boxes is forward paid to Mickle, collected money for sold candy bars stays with the family.  If students sell out of candy bars and wish to sell more, extra boxes will be available at school during the sales window. More information will be provided for students and families on April 10th.

Monday is report card day. All students will be coming home with a grade report and supplementary information from Q3 of learning. Review the included reports and contact your student’s teacher if you have questions by calling school (436-1216), or utilizing email addresses available at http://mickle.lps.org
Please sign the sticker in your student’s planner after you have reviewed the information.

Tuesday, all LPS middle level students will be dismissed at 1:38pm for teachers to continue working in their professional learning community meetings. School will still begin at the regular 8am time, but will end at 1:38pm. Transportation for students and a plan for safe travel home will need to be arranged so that students will be off campus no later than 1:55PM. Lunch will still be provided for all Mickle students.  We appreciate the support for these monthly teacher improvement days and the positive effect they have on the learning for all students.

Next week, 6th and 8th grade students at Mickle will be participating in the Nebraska State Accountability (NeSA) tests.  The NeSA tests are statewide assessments. The results are used for instructional planning for students and for state and federal accountability reporting. For the 6-8 th grade NeSA-reading and 8 th grade science, testing is completed online and is a 2-day test. The 6-8 th grade NeSA-math testing is a paper/pencil, 2-day test. These tests are untimed but typically will take students 60 minutes to complete.
There are several things parents can do to positively contribute to their child’s success. Encourage your child to put forth their best effort with positive statements expressing confidence in their abilities and their efforts. A good night’s sleep and a nutritious breakfast will go a long way to help your child best show what they know and are able to do on the test. Finally, being in school during testing is very important. Please reschedule any appointments that may take your child out of school on the testing dates.  As always, we appreciate your support! Please call us at 402-436-1216, or email at (mickle@lps.org) if you have any questions.
