Parents, Mickle PTSO needs help during the distribution of the fundraiser products.  We need a few parents to help from 1:30 to 5 on Wed.  Nov. 14 for organizing and distributing the product to the students.  Any amount of time if only for 30 min or an hour would be appreciated.  Please call Joanna Andrews at 402-326-4953 or email at shadandtig@windstream.net if you are able to help.

It’s chilly outside so how about warming up with a nice hot bowl of chili inside!  The Micke Middle School Washington DC Trip Fundraiser Group is putting on a Chili Feed on Sunday, November 11th from 12 – 2pm at the First Mennonite Church on 73rd & Holdrege.  Come enjoy a nice hot bowl of chili or a chili dog and a homemade cinnamon roll!  We will have a raffle with some great prizes, like Nebraska Men’s Basketball Tickets and Lincoln Stars Hockey Tickets!  Hope to see you there!!

November 14th after school.  If there are any questions, please call the school at 402-436-1216.  Reminder notes from the office will be given to students before pick up day on the 14th

Student Directories are now available.  The 16-page directory will be sold for $1.00.  If you would like a copy of the directory, send money with your student and they can be picked up in the office.  One can also be “reserved” by emailing the office at Mickle@lps.org and let us know whose name to put on the reserved copy

 

Announcements for Students:

The 2012 Turkey Trot is fast approaching! There is both a 1-mile and 5K race available for students and their families. If interested, see Ms. McVay for more details

There will be NO ALL-SCHOOL HOLIDAY CHOIR REHEARSALS Thursday, Nov. 15 & Friday, Nov. 16 before or after school.  Mrs. Johnson will be attending the Nebraska Music Educator’s Conference.

8th Grade Students interested in mobile app development, computer game development, digital video or other advanced computer classes are invited to attend informational meetings at the Information Technology Focus Program on Tuesday, November 13, beginning at 7:00 PM.    Meetings will be held at the ITFP, located on the fourth floor of the Southeast Community College Entrepreneurship Center, 285 S. 68th St. Pl. Parents and guardians are encouraged to attend.  Call 436-1776 or visit the web site at “itfp.lps.org” for more information.
Yearbooks can be ordered in room 125 before school on Tues and Thursday mornings for $20. Cost will increase 2nd semester. Order yours today!

Open Gym Night for 6th – 8th grades at Belmont Rec Center, Friday November 16, 2012 from 7:00 –9:00 p.m. Play basketball, volleyball, kickball in gym.  The game room has pool, table tennis and foosball.   Snacks are provided- bring money for a drink. You must wear tennis shoes.  

Keep saving those boxtops. Another opportunity for prizes is coming up soon.

Just a reminder that all students are to stay in the locker they were assigned.  You are not allowed to just move into any locker you would like.  If you are having locker concerns please see the Counseling Center to help you solve your issues.

Students please leave your sharpies and other permanent markers at home. If needed at school your teacher will provide. They are not permitted by students at school.

It’s chilly outside so how about warming up with a nice hot bowl of chili inside!  The Micke Middle School Washington DC Trip Fundraiser Group is putting on a Chili Feed on Sunday, November 11th from 12 – 2pm at the First Mennonite Church on 73rd & Holdrege.  Come enjoy a nice hot bowl of chili or a chili dog and a homemade cinnamon roll!  We will have a raffle with some great prizes, like Nebraska Men’s Basketball Tickets and Lincoln Stars Hockey Tickets!  Hope to see you there!!

There will be different activities for students to participate in from a bean bag toss to climbing on the rock wall. The after school social on will be held tomorrow, November 1st from 3pm-4pm. The cost for the event is a $1 or a can of food. If you need assistance with either please see Mr. Pearson or an administrator. Make sure you have transportation arranged by 4pm on the day of the social. 6th graders should bring their materials with them down to the event because it will take place in the gym and we will not be going back to lockers.  Questions contact Mrs. Mueller or Mr. Bartels

Tomorrow is Halloween.  At Mickle, students are not allowed to wear costumes to school on that day.  The LPS and Mickle dress code will continue to be followed.  However, we do believe that all our Mickle students are preparing for learning beyond high school.  Mickle students are encouraged to pick Halloween as a day to wear clothing that shows your interest to a higher education institution.  Shirts, sweatshirts, or jerseys that connect them to learning beyond high school will be the focus for Halloween ‘dressing for success’.

8th grade students will need to bring a sack lunch if they have not ordered a school sack lunch.  They will also need to dress warmly as we may be outside for a portion of the trip.

There is no cost to your student.  Students will be working with historians, learning about the Homestead Act of 1862.  We feel this is a great opportunity for our Mickle students and hope all 8th graders can participate.

Next Thursday, November 1st, students at Mickle, and all across LPS, will be able to participate in the 2012 Student Online Vote.  Mickle students are eagerly given the opportunity in this mock online election to share your thoughts and practice exercising your right to vote and share your voice as future voting citizens.

On Tuesday, Nov 6th, Mickle will again serve as a polling site for adults in the voting district.  We will have guests in the building, but know that all students will give great impressions.

Next, Wednesday, October 31st is Halloween.  At Mickle, students are not allowed to wear costumes to school on that day.  The LPS and Mickle dress code will continue to be followed.  However, we do believe that all our Mickle students are preparing for learning beyond high school.  Mickle students are encouraged to pick Halloween as a day to wear clothing that shows your interest to a higher education institution.  Shirts, sweatshirts, or jerseys that connect them to learning beyond high school will be the focus for Halloween ‘dressing for success’.

Student Directories are now available as a service to our community and a fundraising effort for our school.  The 16-page directory will be sold for $1.00.  If you would like a copy of the directory, money can be brought to the office.  We also will have copies available to purchase during lunch time.

Chinese Cuisine  You know you are gonna need to eat when you are shopping at Gateway Mall on Saturday, October 27th!  Eat at Panda Express any time between 12:00 and 9:00 pm and be sure to mention the Mickle Middle School Washington DC Trip Fundraiser.  You can also have a chance to win Lincoln Stars Hockey tickets to a 2012-2013 game of your choice if you fill out the raffle form on the bottom of the flyers that are going around and turn it in to Panda Express. Raffle information is also available in the Mickle School Office!

If YOU sold items in the fundraiser, your sales prizes will come on Nov 7 on the same day as product deliveries.

Today is an “X” day and will be an Outside Day during lunch recess time.  It is October and will be getting colder outside, make sure that during lunch recess time that you have your coat/jacket with you during lunch recess.  Make this a part of your P5 locker routine.
