*The Foundation for LPS is sponsoring two Parent Cafes facilitated by HopeSpoke for the parents/caregivers of any student in Lincoln Public Schools. These are parent education groups, not support groups, and will cover topics such as parenting styles, communication, responsibility, discipline, self-esteem, anger, and problem-solving.

There will be two cafes – one for those whose children are 5-12 years old and another for those who have children who are 13 and over. The Cafes will be presented through Zoom and will run for 6 weeks for an hour each week. The group for parents of adolescents and teens (13+) will meet weekly on Mondays from 1:00-200 pm from November 16 through December 21. The group for parents of youth (ages 5-12) will meet on weekly Tuesdays from 1:00-2:00 from November 17 through December 22.

The groups are limited to 20 participants each and will be filled on a first-come basis. Please plan to attend all 6 sessions of the group. HERE (https://forms.gle/aRnQuMaGGczzuYAMA) is a link to sign up.

*Hello from The Career Academy!

Did you know that Juniors and Seniors from across Lincoln are currently earning college credit from Southeast Community College? Over 600 students this year have made the decision to do High School differently by attending The Career Academy (a partnership between LPS & SCC) as part of their day. While at TCA, these students are taking college classes in one of 16 pathways that interest them. Students attend TCA for a variety of interests such as Welding, Culinary Arts, K-12 Education, Health Science, and many more. New to TCA this year will be pathways focusing on Human Services and an Academic Transfer pathway.

If you are interested in learning more about The Career Academy, the pathways we offer, and how it may benefit you, I would encourage you to look at our website: https://home.lps.org/tca/. You can also apply to TCA for the 2021/2022 school year at our website.

Finally, if you would like to hear more about the amazing opportunities that await you at TCA, I would encourage you to attend one of our upcoming information sessions. These information sessions will held on November 11, 12, 17 & 19 from 5:30-6:30 pm.

Thank you for considering TCA as part of your high school experience.

Join us for the next PTSO meeting on Thursday, Nov 5th, at 7pm via zoom zoom link.  We will be hearing from Mr. Neily and Mr. Penner on helping our kids manage the stress and pressures of COVID, middle school and all things “teen”. We can’t wait to see you there!

Starting this week, face coverings will now be required at recess for students and adult supervisors.

This decision was made in collaboration with the health department and is a result of the updated definition of a high-risk close contact and student inability to guarantee physical distancing throughout recess.

Face coverings will also be required for P.E.

Picture retakes will be Monday, October 26th .  A sign up sheet is available in the Mickle Office.

This is for students who did not have their picture taken on August 21, were not at school on August 21, or there was a technical issue & have requested a retake of the student’s picture.  If the retake is due to a problem with the original picture, LifeTouch requires the student to return their original picture package proof.  Students will turn those in at the time of the retake.

Remote learning students are also invited on October 26th, between 9:30-11:30 am to get their picture taken for the yearbook.  Families will need to provide transportation to/from Mickle and face coverings will be required during the whole process leading up to/after picture time.  Parents are asked to wait in their car until their remote learner is finished.  ONLINE orders are available by visiting the Life Touch website at (http://mylifetouch.com)  The Mickle Picture Day ID code is:  EVTT9V6FJ

Families wishing to pay for pictures via cash or check will need to have a paper based picture packet filled out and money included at the time of the student picture (Monday, Oct 26th).

Checks should be made out to “LifeTouch Photos” as indicated on the envelope. Order envelopes are available at school and can be taken out to parent cars to assist in filling in the order form.
