We will have Special Guests Matt Uher, Lincoln Northeast Athletic Director to talk about the summer athletic camps available to students and Jaqueline Goering from the YMCA CLC program to talk about other community summer activity opportunities for middle school students.  We know there are lots of great opportunities for students in Lincoln so come prepared to share any additional things your students enjoy.   We can’t wait to see you there!

2021 Zoetis-LPS-GSK STEAM Fest

The Zoetis-LPS-GSK Science Fair is going virtual this year and becoming the 2021 Zoetis-LPS-GSK STEAM Fest! We are providing various opportunities for students to explore STEAM activities: Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math.

The STEAM Fest is for all LPS 5th – 8th grade students online, from April 8th – 22nd, 2021. Students are encouraged to check out the many videos, activities, and resources available on the STEAM Fest website: https://lps.org/steamfest/ including a t-shirt challenge. Your design could be featured on the STEAM Fest t-shirt!

*Monday, April 5th is an Elementary Plan Day, which means it will be a regular school day for Mickle students.

*Attention ALL 7th Grade Families:

All students have now had the opportunity to participate in a presentation with Mr. Neilly about 8th-grade electives for next year either through Zoom or in person.  The Slideshow that was presented as well as the 8th Grade Daily Schedule document are both located in Mr. Neilly’s Counselor Google Classroom. 

The slideshow contains lots of helpful information on each course offered as well as the process for submitting those selections online! 

Please take a minute to check in with your student to make sure they choose the best courses for themselves and their interest.  We also want to remind those who have not yet submitted requests to do so by Friday at the latest!

Mr. Neilly the 7th grade counselor will begin to visit Social Studies Classrooms Thursday March 25th and Friday March 26th to present information to students about their 8th grade daily schedule as well as what elective students will be able to choose.  Each student will use their Chromebook to select up to 5 Wishes for elective classes and provide 1 course they prefer NOT to take.

Most students will have 4 spots to fill in their schedule.  However some courses are “Year Long” courses those will take up 2 of the 4 open spots.

Please take some time to talk to your student about their elective choices, we will do our best to honor those requests as numbers allow.

Lincoln Northeast Student Council –

Any 8th grade student attending LNE and interested in Student Council can use the jump code (Y3PA) on the LPS website to apply and get information.

The application will open April 1st and close April 30th.

INTRAMURAL SPORTS:

Track “Try On” Day will be Thursday, March 25th from 3:15p-4:30p. Students will meet in the Center Gym and have the opportunity to try any track and field events.

The first practice is on Monday, March 29th. By attending the first practice, students are “committing” to the track team and are eligible to compete in meets.

If your student is interested in track and HAS NOT participated in athletics yet this year, please go to lps.org with the jump code PRYL to complete the paperwork. They can’t participate on March 25th without the paperwork complete.
